The Challenger combines a high efficiency modulating, condensing boiler with on-demand domestic hot water production in a single compact unit, perfect for small to mid-sized residences.
Sized for Today’s Needs:
The compact size and integrated instant domestic hot water capability of the Challenger quickly distinguish it from a typical boiler. The instant hot water feature eliminates the need for a separate hot water tank while still providing up to 3 GPM of hot water. And because it was designed to operate in small quarters, its noise level is so low as to be unnoticeable. With three models from 84,000 to 124,000 Btu/hr, the Challenger is the right size for today’s energy efficient homes.
Multi-purpose Heat Exchanger:
The unique dual function heat exchanger features dual copper waterways that provide both space heat and domestic hot water directly in the primary heat exchanger. This eliminates the need for a separate heat exchanger, pump, and three-way valve and provides superior condensing efficiency and increased reliability. The copper waterways are glycol compatible for specific space heating applications. The copper waterways are cast into an aluminum block providing even heating, and eliminating hot spots where localized steam may occur. The aluminum block is engineered for maximum heat transfer and minimum maintenance.
Environmentally Friendly:
Although small in size, the Challenger is still packed with the latest energy saving technology with an AFUE on 96%. The Challenger is a modulating, condensing boiler that will accept either natural gas or propane, and has a turndown ratio of nearly 4 to 1. A low NOx premix burner is so efficient that it meets the stringent California South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) requirements. The integrated controls feature standard outdoor reset and DHW priority.
Easy Installation:
The integrated domestic hot water function of the Challenger saves space and installation time as well. The compact size and lightweight design makes the Challenger easy to handle, and piping is minimized by eliminating the separate domestic hot water tank. Concentric venting is available to minimize wall penetrations, while parallel venting can be used when desired.
